Child Victim of Heavy Metal Pollution in China
Yang Zhiyi, 7 years old. In September 2008, Dali People's Hospital diagnosed Yang Zhiyi with excessive blood lead levels. Her father works in the Jinding mine. He acknowledges that the pollution from the mine is a serious problem, but nonetheless does not want to move. He has lived in the town for such a long time and worries that he won't be able to get used to a new environment. His daughter has just started first grade. Her favourite colour is pink. She says that when she grows up she wants to be a doctor and help cure illnesses.
