Greenpeace activists protest in Linz, Austria, at the EU informal energy council, calling upon ministers to stop dirty subsidies for fossil and nuclear energy. Governments in Europe are currently investing over 58 billion Euros in power plants that are on stand-by, claiming that these payments are needed to ensure the security of electricity supply. The truth is, there is more than enough capacity to cover European’s energy demand.
