Greenpeace activists are protesting in front of the country's embassy in Berlin for the release of twelve climate activists held in Slovakia. The so-called 'Novaky 12' were arrested last Wednesday after they were peacefully protesting with banners on a cooling tower of the energy company HBP near the city of Novaky for a quick exit from climate-damaging coal. On Sunday a Slovak court had refused to release the activists on bail. Among them is a 30-year-old German. According to prosecutors, the twelve should remain in custody until a possible trial begins. This can last for months.
