Protect the Antarctic Petition Delivery in Berlin
Greenpeace activists and Antarctic Ambassador Stefan Gwildis present a petition asking the protection of the Antarctic Ocean to state secretary Michael Stuebgen from the Ministry of Agriculture in Berlin. Representatives of Greenpeace groups from Hamburg, Lubeck and Greenteams are in the delegation. More than 384,000 people signed the petition to show their support for the largest marine sanctuary in the Weddell Sea. The Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) will meet from 22 October in Hobart, Australia to decide on the creation of a protected area in Antarctica.
