Start of the demonstration at the Hambacher Wald near Koeln-Buir for a quick coal phase-out and for the rescue of the Hambacher Forest. 50 000 people participate in the demonstration "Save forest-stop coal" near the forest is the largest of its kind so far. Greenpeace Germany executive director Martin Kaiser gives a speech. The initiative Buirer for Buir, the German Federal Association for the Environment and Nature Conservation (BUND), Campact, Greenpeace and the nature friends of Germany are calling for a fast exit from coal. They demand energy group RWE to definitively stop the logging in the Hambach Forest.

Die Grossdemonstration mit 50 000 Teilnehmern "Wald retten-Kohle stoppen" nahe der Waldkante ist die bisher groesste ihrer Art. Die Initiative Buirer für Buir, der Bund fuer Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND), Campact, Greenpeace und die NaturFreunde Deutschlands fordern gemeinsam mit den Teilnehmern von der Bundesregierung einen zuegigen Ausstieg aus der klimaschaedlichen Kohle und vom Energiekonzern RWE einen kompletten Verzicht auf die Rodung des Hambacher Waldes.
