Houses near Industrial Farming in Bukkerup, Denmark
Locals live close to factory farms in an area 60 kilometers west of Copenhagen. When the wind comes from the “wrong” direction, the smell from the farm is perceived to be awful.
In the surroundings of the small villages Tingerup, Bukkerup, Baarup and Soderup a pig farmer and his three sons own and operate eight pig factory farms.
Small farms are disappearing, and residents reported frequent smells, noise and air pollution to Greenpeace Nordic in Denmark. Many locals worry that the disposal of great quantities of manure releases chemicals and toxic substances into the air, and they complain of noises, air pollution, environmental damage and health problems.
