Demonstration for Climate Protection of the Elbe River's Bed in Germany
Greenpeace activists demonstrate for more climate protection in the dry river bed of the Elbe. The environmental activists place a so called Hungerstein in the river bed.The Elbe river shows a historical extreme low water level below 48 centimetres.
Hungersteine are rocks in the river bed which become visible during heatwaves and drought and show inscriptions on the serious effect the lack of water is having. The inscription of the Greenpeace stone reads: "If you see me, this is climate crisis - August 2018". Banners read:"Heat, drought, low water mark, start coal phase-out!".
