Thermal Power Plant Action in Spain
More than 70 Greenpeace Spain activists blocked port access of the Endesa thermal power plant in Carboneras (Almería) with 45 kayaks to demand the plant be shut down. The activists carried banners with the messages "Turn off the coal" and "No to coal" in English and Spanish.
With this peaceful protest, Greenpeace Spain called attention to the fact that coal is one of the main elements responsible for climate change, and Endesa is the company that is the leading cause of climate change in Spain, besides being the sixth most polluting thermal company in Europe.
