Scientific Research on Tropical Peatland in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Dr. Simon Lewis, (Prof. Global Change Science from University of Leeds, UK) and Raoul Monsembula (Greenpeace Country Coordinator DRC, Forest Campaign) overview satelite data from the Congo Basin on a plane towards Mbandaka. A team from Greenpeace Africa are working with local partners to conduct scientific research in the village of Lokolama, 45 km from Mbandaka. The team aim to identify the presence of tropical peatlands in the region, and to measure its depth.
