Freedom Island Waste Clean-up and Brand Audit in the Philippines
Environmental groups including Greenpeace carry out a waste clean-up activity at Freedom Island, in Manila Bay, just off the coast of Parañaque in Metro Manila, Philippines.
Freedom Island is an artificial island which was formed between 1973 and 1985. The island is an ecotourism area and contains a mangrove forest and swamps providing a habitat for many migratory bird species from different countries such as China, Japan and Siberia.
As part of the clean-up, the groups also conduct a waste audit to identify what type of plastic waste ends up in our oceans.
