Arctic Sunrise Antarctica Tour - Clipreel
In January and February 1997 the MV Arctic Sunrise sailed to Antarctica to examine possible effects of Climate change on the area. Greenpeace discovered a large crack in the Larsen B ice shelf and noted significant changes in penguin populations, they also completed the first circumnavigation of the James Ross Island, previously a solid layer of ice. The discoveries made by Greenpeace are more evidence of how climate change is effecting the area and Greenpeace calls on governments to decide on tougher greenhouse gas emission targets and take the isssue of climate change seriously. Footage includes:
1) Scenics 2) wildlife and plants 3) circumnavigation of James Ross Island 4) Larsen A ice shelf 5) Larsen B ice shelf 6) Stonington glacier 7) Wordie ice shelf 8) MV Arctic Sunrise sails through water and ice.
