International Action for the Białowieża Forest in Poland
On the day of the first hearing at the Court of Justice of EU - EU Commission vs Polish Ministry of Environment regarding illegal logging in Bialowieza Forest - Greenpeace activists hosted an action in front of the Court's building in Luxembourg. We brought a slice of a 160-year old spruce tree recently logged in Bialowieza, as a symbolic proof of breaching of EU law in the forest: despite Court's decision from July 27, logging and removal of over 100-year old trees in Bialowieza continued. We also showed banners reading "Save Bialowieza Forest" in Polish, French and English.
