Make Something Week in Hong Kong (Web Video - Traditional Chinese Version)
To fight overconsumption and wasteful shopping during the holiday season, thousands of makers around the world have joined Greenpeace for the MAKE SMTHNG week of action.
MAKE SMTHNG Week lasted from Dec 2-10 and saw more than 175 events in 32 countries on 6 continents, with an estimate of over 10.000 people attending workshops and talks on repairing, sharing, zero waste, veganism, upcycling and DIY techniques that breathe new life into already owned products.
In Hong Kong, more than 400 citizens pledged not to buy new clothes for 21 days and to actively pursue alternatives to shopping during the Christmas period. Greenpeace suggests Hong Kong citizens to avoid overconsumption by differentiating between needs and wants and actively pursuing shopping alternatives, such as clothes swap and upcycling, for a festive yet environmentally-friendly Christmas.
