Imagine this… If you throw away a plastic bottle
or a plastic bag,
0:00:09 and it ends up in our oceans.
0:00:11 Who’s going to clean it up?
0:00:16 We cycle to deliver our products every morning.
0:00:18 Once our customers finish the juice,
0:00:21 we go back to collect the containers the next day.
0:00:27 I was a packaging designer.
0:00:29 And I found out that the more materials we use for
packaging,
0:00:34

the more trash we create.
0:00:37 And in the end it all ends up in a trash can anyway.

Around 8 million tonnes of
plastic ends up in our oceans
every year.
0:00:45
Thailand is one of the top ten
countries responsible for this.
0:00:49 No matter how good the bottle is,
0:00:52 if it’s a plastic bottle,
0:00:54 it will just end up as more trash.
0:00:58 That’s why we use glasses like this.
0:01:01 And the best part is they are reusable.
0:01:06 By using glasses, we managed to cut down
0:01:09 around 70,000 to 80,000 plastic containers each
year.
0:01:16 The aim of this business is to set an example of an
environmentally concerned business,
0:01:25 which leaves as little carbon footprint as possible,
while benefits others, especially the environment.
0:01:32 The environment is what’s surrounding us.
0:01:35 We cannot turn a blind eye. Everything will come
back to us.
0:01:41 What you dump into the oceans, the fish will eat it.
0:01:44 The plastic you throw away will break into tiny
pieces and small fish will eat those.
0:01:48 And we know Then, the big fish will eat those
small fish
0:01:50 and in the end, you will eat that fish. It’s a cycle.
0:01:54 I think not many people know about the impact of
their actions.
0:02:00 I believe that if they did, they would change their
behaviors.
0:02:04 If everyone looks at the bigger picture and think
more about the environment,
0:02:09 everyone would want to reduce the amount of
trash they produce.
0:02:12 I never get tired.
0:02:15 I believe that if we do good things everyday,
0:02:17 there will be more meanings to our lives, as well as
to others.
0:02:21 And that’s very important.

Local Heroes in Thailand Breaking Free from Plastic
Stories from Thailand showing sustainable solutions to reduce single use plastic consumption.
Sirilak Mahajuntanaporn or Zhang runs a fruit shake business. She delivers fresh juices in reusable glass bottles to her customers by bicycle. This way the shop has managed to save using 70,000 to 80,000 plastic containers each year.
While disposable plastic is everywhere and convenient to use, Thitinant Sristhita or Nune has been reducing her plastic use and waste for the past 10 years. She has inspired others to follow her example.
