Boom put out to catch oil from an oil spill in the Mississippi River which brought noxious fumes to visitors at the New Orleans French Quarter Festival sponsored by Chevron. The U.S. Coast Guard estimated 4,200 gallons spilled after the vessel Pac Antares struck a pier near Nashville Avenue Wharf, releasing heavy fuel oil into the Mississippi River. The oil coated rocks along the river bank in New Orleans French Quarter. Other major art’s festivals in the city are also sponsored by oil and gas companies including the Jazz and Heritage Festival which is sponsored by Shell.
