Stopping Big Irrigation Action in New Zealand
Greenpeace activists locked on to barrel in front of digger with banner that reads "STOP BIG IRRIGATION / #SaveOurRivers".
The action is against the Central Plains Water, an enormous multi-million dollar irrigation scheme in Canterbury, New Zealand. The scheme is taking water out of the Rakaia river in Canterbury. Much of that water will be used to expand intensive dairying.
