Clyde River Supreme Court of Canada Ruling on Seismic Blasting
Former mayor and community leader from Clyde River Jerry Natanine was all smiles walking up to Parliament Hill after hearing the news that the Supreme Court has upheld Clyde River's appeal, on July 26 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
The community of Clyde River, Nunavut, received a favourable ruling from Canada's highest court on their case to uphold their rights as Indigenous Peoples and protect their home, the Arctic, from the impacts of seismic blasting.
Greenpeace Canada was invited to support Clyde River's legal battle and has been working closely with the community since July 2014. Jerry Natanine travelled to Ottawa, Canada's capital city, to receive the Supreme Court's ruling and host a press conference.
