Pak Dani Jambang and his two sons, local fishermen and guides of a Greenpeace team, on their boat on the Serkap river beyond Tasik Besar lake where they live. The local population is heavily affected by the deforestation, which causes the land to dry out before the forest is turned into acacia or oil palm plantations. Enormous amounts of nutrients are drained out acidifying rivers, lakes and water streams. Since 1998 the fishing catch has dropped by 70 percent.
