Organic Rice Art at Ratchaburi in Thailand
Local farmers harvest rice from a field in Ratchaburi province 80 kilometers West of Bangkok, where Greenpeace “Rice Art” depicting farmers harvesting the staple was planted 3 months ago. The farmers harvest only the green variety as harvest time for the black rice variety is a few weeks later. Greenpeace is calling on the Thai Government to ban genetically modified (GMO) rice. The rice art celebrates Southeast Asia's long heritage of rice cultivation, and raises awareness about the importance of this staple crop, on which so many of the world's population depend.

Organic Rice Art Documentation in Thailand
Hundreds of Greenpeace supporters, volunteers and farmers have planted organic rice in a bid to create the first ever art on a rice field in Thailand. The 10-rai rice field in Ratchaburi province in 4 months grows into a beautiful art to show an image of farmers wearing straw hats and using sickles to harvest rice. The rice art, which celebrates Thailand's rich rice heritage, is meant to remind governments to protect the regions most important food crop from the threats of genetic engineering.
