Stavros Dimas with Greenpeace Crew - Baltic Tour (Baltic Sea: 2006)
EU environmental commissioner Stavros Dimas stands at the center for a group shot with the Greenpeace crew after having a tour around the Arctic Sunrise. The Probo Koala is in the background and has been painted by Greenpeace with the statement 'EU Toxic Crime Scene'.
On 19th August this year the Probo Koala unloaded a toxic waste shipment in the west African town of Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The shipment was so highly toxic that it killed seven people and poisoned another 44,000. Greenpeace calls on the Estonian government to detain the vessel and demands that the EU Commission and the member states ensures that the ship is held until a full criminal investigation is carried out. The Probo Koala has become a vital piece of evidence in the toxic investigation.
