Palm Oil action against Ship Gran Couva in Riau
Greenpeace campaigner Bustar Maitar (center) negotiates with a harbour master who plans to pull down a climber from the anchor chain of the tanker Gran Couva. According to Greenpeace, the ship is carrying 27,000 metric tonnes of crude palm oil. Greenpeace activists are protesting against the destruction of Kampar Peninsula's peatland forest by pulp and paper and palm oil industries and calling for the Indonesian government to implement a moratorium on deforestation.
