A GPS monitoring unit deployed by Glaciologists Gordon Hamilton, from the University of Maine's Climate Change Institute and Leigh Stearns from the University of Kansas. The GPS units monitor the glacier's dynamic movement and provide data that can be used to calculate the speed of flow. The scientists are part of an independent team currently on board the Greenpeace ship the Arctic Sunrise.
