Now we have the mess - the nuclear waste is here. Tonight the first transport of highly radioactive waste from the French reprocessing plant at La Hague has crossed the Swiss border. Greenpeace activists have 'welcomed' the nuclear train in Wurenlingen with a protest signs. The nuclear waste which the industry had accumulated during decades in foreign reprocessing plants, is coming back to Switzerland. The waste will a burden for the country for millions of years. For example, iodine-129 has a half-life of 15.7 million years, the highly toxic plutonium has a half-life of 24'131 years.
