GE Action against Golden Rice of Syngenta in Basel
Activist during protest action against "Golden Rice" of Syngenta.
In original language:
Gentechnik Aktion gegen Syngenta Golden Rice in Basel

Action against Golden Rice at Syngenta Headquarters in Basel
The creators of the genetically engineered Vitamin A rice "Golden Rice" (marketed by Syngenta) promise the poor population of the Third World salvation from blindness and death in a broad propaganda campaign. This is cynicism at its best: Greenpeace verified the official figures, which come from the geneticists themselves, and came to a shocking conclusion: A woman should have as much as 3.75 kilograms of the genetically engineered rice (dry!) a day if she wants to meet their vitamin A requirement. Greenpeace protests today at the Syngenta headquarters in Basel against the abuse of the poor and sick in the Third World in order to increase the acceptance of gene technology.
