Forests Action Mahogany Vigil in Brazil
A mahogany tree, placed between the buildings of the Agriculture State Department and the Environment State Department in the capital of Brazil, was choosen by Greenpeace activists as a symbol for the preservation of the species. A vigil is being held around the tree. Greenpeace activists started a row of events to demand from the Brazilian Government a stronger position for the protection of Mahogany trees. These events are happening simultaneously to CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species - Santiago, Chile - November 3rd-15th, 2002).
