Deforestation in Ancient Woodlands of Finland
Long pine tree shadows on snow, Peurakaira, Finland. At the beginning of the 1970's the Finnish forestry department sprayed Agent Orange to eradicate the birch trees and then planted pine trees. Deforestation by state owned logging company and others threatens the natural habitat of the reindeer herds and the traditional livelihood of the local Sámi people.
