Anti-Nuclear Action in Taiwan
Members of Greenpeace East Asia (Taipei office) hold a report that they have published titled “Who is Responsible for Nuclear Disasters?”. The report provides a global study on nuclear liability laws and compensation. According to the report, the compensation by the Taiwan state-owned operator, Taipower Co. (USD $140 million) is the lowest among developed countries.
Greenpeace and the Green Citizens’ Action Alliance deliver the report to Taipower while outside activists unfurl a banner reading “Will Taipower Pay for the Loss?”. Greenpeace is urging Taiwan to stop the construction of nuclear power plant 4, and opt for a more sustainable future.
