Rainbow Warrior Bombing - Web Video
The original Rainbow Warrior was sunk in Auckland harbour just before midnight on July 10, 1985, following two explosions which ripped a massive hole in her steel hull. Twelve people were on board. Fernando Pereira, a Portugese photographer and father, was trapped in his cabin and drowned. At first it was thought the explosions had been caused by something on board. Within a few days, police arrested two French secret service agents, posing as a honeymoon couple. News that they were part of a larger team of saboteurs, suspected of bombing the Rainbow Warrior on behalf of the French Government, rocked New Zealand and made headlines around the world.

Rainbow Warrior Bombing - Web Videos
A series of six short videos telling the story of the Rainbow Warrior bombing in Auckland, New Zealand, in 1985. It was soon revealed the bombing was ordered by the French Government in an attempt to foil protests of its nuclear weapons testing in the Pacific. Twelve people were on board. Fernando Pereira, a Portugese photographer and father, was trapped in his cabin and drowned. Two French agents were arrested by New Zealand Police and pleaded guilty to charges of manslaughter and willful damage. They only served three years of their 10 year jail sentences.
