Rainbow Warrior Bombing - Web Video
The bombing of the Rainbow Warrior badly destroyed the ship. Towed into a dry dock, the damage from the two bombs planted by the French agents was obvious. The ship was repaired for the voyage to her final resting place offered by the Maori tribe Ngati Kuri, in Matauri Bay, off the east coast of Northland. She is now part of the marine ecosystem and has become a popular dive destination. The original Rainbow Warrior has been replaced twice. The third Rainbow Warrior – the first purpose-designed boat for Greenpeace – was launched in 2011. Primarily a sailing vessel, she is a showcase of environmental technology, and will be Greenpeace’s premier campaigning vessel for the next 25 years.
