The Enciso Family of Activists in Mexico
The Enciso family lives by the heavily polluted River Santiago. The family members are activists and have been fighting against the industries in the area that produce toxic waste. Sophie quit her job to dedicate her time to cleaning up the rivers through community work. Together with her mother and father they have formed the collective "Un Salto de Vida" (A leap of life), holding community meetings, petitioning and visiting polluted sites. They have helped to disseminate information and awareness to the community members about the problems caused by the pollution of the river.
