Vienna/Galtuer – Six Greenpeace activists have begun a six day protest action on the Piz Buin glacier in the Austrian Alps (3312 meters) to draw attention to the dramatic consequences of global climate change. From the top of Piz Buin they will hang a banner with the warning. “SOS Glacier –Stop Climate Change!” The environmentalists from Switzerland, Germany, Slovakia and Austria are demanding concrete progress at the international climate negotiations in Buenos Aires. Only a fast reduction of greenhouse gas emissions will stop global climate change.
