'Coal Monsters' Action in Philippines
Greenpeace activists paint themselves black and become ‘coal monsters’ to symbolize coal, in a satirical protest action at the Department of Energy in Taguig. The activists rename the agency as the "Department of Coal Energy" and Jose Rene D. Almendras (Philippine Secretary of Energy) as "Sec. Rene COALmendras."
Greenpeace is demanding Sec. Almendras reverses his decision to construct 11 coal-fired power plants and instead implement the Renewable Energy law in order to provide a safe, secure and independent energy future for the country.
