The Dumagat Remontado, the indigenous people of Daraitan, Rizal, provided produce which were brought directly to community pantries in Metro Manila. This is a response to shared struggles of broken food systems and lack of government support, and how they show their solidarity with the urban poor.
Connecting farmers directly with consumers is part of Greenpeace Philippines' call for a shorter value chain as a way to address the issue of food security in the country.
Greenpeace Philippines, in partnership with PAKISAMA, bore witness to the indigenous people’s urge to help their fellow Filipinos, from harvest to distribution, telling stories of their ongoing plight against a destructive dam construction and climate disasters.
