Collection: Paradise Campaign for the Mediterranean
GP0STP8NL
Greenpeace volunteers, together with local residents and tourists in Spain, Croatia, Italy and Greece are demanding from their authorities to switch to 100 % clean energy like wind and solar and to immediately phase out fossil fuels.
This is part of a new Greenpeace initiative called “Solar Paradise” which aims at boosting the Southern European local economies, enhancing job creation and mitigating the risks of climate change by promoting a shift in the energy paradigm of those countries.
While the Mediterranean area has the most solar potential in whole Europe, the local governments in Spain, Italy, Greece and Croatia are planning to invest in dirty energy (fossil fuels, coal power plants and oil drilling) thus endangering the pristine nature, sustainable development and tourism, the region's most powerful economic sector.
