Factory farms: a lot of animals in confined spaces, large amounts of manure, and widespread negative impacts for nature and climate. But what is life like for those people who live nearby? How do these industrial farms affect their day-to-day activities, and how does this make them feel?
Greenpeace has visited local communities near factory farms in France, Denmark, Spain and Italy. People welcomed us into their homes and shared their stories with us. Stories of frustration, struggle and opposition, which we captured in a visual journey.

Between December 2018 and March 2019, four photo shoots took place at factory farms and the surrounding communities in Europe: Gallès SAS, a chicken farm in France, Valle de Odieta S.C.L. a cow farm in Spain, a number of pig farms owned by Kjær Knudsens in Denmark, as well as different pig farms in the Italian regions of Veneto and Lombardy.
