Rainbow Warrior History and Bombing

A selection of images showing the history of the bombing and sinking of the Rainbow Warrior. The current Rainbow Warrior was launched on 10 July 1989. The original vessel was sunk in 1985 by agents of the French government in an attempt to foil protests of their nuclear weapons testing in the Pacific. The Rainbow Warrior III is to be completed in time for Greenpeace's 40th anniversary in 2011. It will include the very latest in green technology, making it ideal for use in Greenpeace's campaign to avert catastrophic climate change.
