General views and action against the Danish national toxic waste incinerator. A 1990 investigation by Greenpeace shows that toxic heavy metals are leaking from the landfill area used by Kommunekemi to dump its ash. In the adjacent Kattegat Sea, researchers found a 300% increase of metals in mussels, since government tests were conducted in 1984. The incineration plant also spews toxins into the atmosphere and through sewage to the sea.
