Collection: Climate Action Green Light District in Amsterdam the Netherlands (Photo & Videos)
GP0ALBAJ
Greenpeace and Provincial Environmental Federations change today the Red Light District in Amsterdam in a Green Light District as part of the national climate campaign 'HIER', an initiative of more than 40 charities who take care of the worldwide climate problem. For this campaign Greenpeace promotes the use of '1 miljoen spaarlampen', which translates to English as '1 million extra low energy light bulbs' in the Netherlands. Volunteers replace the incandescent red light bulbs, lighting up six windows in the famous Red Light District, with low energy green light bulbs. It is an easy way to save a lot of energy. They also ask entrepreneurs on the Zeedijk to start using low energy light bulbs.
