Shoot: DETOX: SWIMMING FASHION TEST 2013 - PREPARATION - Clipreel
GP32C17
Hamburg, 2013-10-17: Swimwear can contain pollutants which harm both the environment and human health. Greenpeace asks an independent laboratory to examine swimwear on perflourocarbon compounds (PFC) for the first time. Another lab carries out tests on samplings for hormonally effective alkylphenolethoxylate and other pollutants. The results show more than half of the samples are polluted with PFC and four out of five samples contain alkylphenolethoxylates. The swimwear is produced by the sportswear companies adidas, Nike, Puma and Chiemsee.
Greenpeace demands from textile industries and producers to ban harmful chemicals from the production.
Statements: Manfred Santen, Greenpeace Germany toxics expert.
