Erkelenz, North-Rhine-Westphalia, 8 Jan 2018: Greenpeace activists demonstrate for the coal phase-out at the church St. Lambertus in Immerath to be demolished for the enlargement of lignite open pit mining Garzweiler II run by RWE Power AG. Some activists climb the church and hang a banner reading:"" Anyone who destroys culture also destroys humans."" In front of the former Roman Catholic church other Greenpeace activists display a burning sign that reads ""#ENDCOAL."" Greenpeace demands to stop the demolition of the church when at the same time politicians in Berlin are discussing a phase out of coal in order to meet their climate targets and reduce CO2-emissions by 40% by 2020.
