Shoot: Clemenceau Shipbreaking Action
GP0STONV
Greenpeace activists protest against the departure of former French aircraft carrier, Clemenceau, to India. The decommissioned vessel, containing asbestos and other toxic chemicals, is bound for an Indian shipbreaking yard where it will be dismantled by unprotected and untrained workers. Four activists climb onto the loading crane in the Port of Toulon to attach a banner reading 'Asbestos carrier stay out of India' while three other activists climb the aircraft carrier's mast where they display more banners. An eighth activist circled over the ship on a motorised paraglider trailing a banner reading in French 'Asbestos carrier: not here, not anywhere'.
