He was making a formal request to Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) for permission to document the impact of the explosion on the Abkatun-A oil platform. The company said the blast killed four and injured 16 workers, two seriously, and forced the evacuation of 300. The shallow water rig was in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Ciudad del Carmen. There has been no independent documentation of the explosion.
