Shoot: Climate Action against Ozone Smog Air Pollution in Bern Switzerland
GP02X6
Greenpeace activists demand immediate measures against ozone smog. Climbers hung a big banner - with 525 square meters, probably the largest that hung ever in Switzerland – on the Kornhaus bridge. The banner was reading in german: „ Ozonsmog macht krank – Autos, macht Pause!“ or translated: "Ozone smog causes disease – Cars; take a break!" Summer smog was reported this year in Bern, Basel, Biel, Geneva, Lausanne, Lugano, St. Gallen and Zurich. Greenpeace is now calling for measures to attack the high ozone levels at once: speed limits, driving restrictions for cars and a temporary subsidy of bus, train and tram tickets.
In order to give the demands for ‚emergency aid for the air’ emphasis, Greenpeace is touring through Switzerland with a special bus to measure the air quality in Switzerland.
