Shoot: 'Keep it in the Ground' Banner over Lignite Mining Area in Lusatia
GP0STPT8C
Greenpeace activists protest in Haidemuehl, alongside open lignite pit mining Welzow Sued. The environmental activists are demanding a phase out of coal. Climbers display a two hundred square metres banner between the chimneys of a former glass factory. The banner reads: "#Keep it in The Ground“. Activists on the chimneys hold smaller banners which read (in Swedish): "#LatKoletLigga“, (in German): "Klimaschutz braucht Kohleausstieg", (in Czech): "EPH, Luzice bude Vase Waterloo". The open cast mine is owned by the Swedish state owned company Vattenfall. The residents of Haidemuehl have lost their homes because of Vattenfall extending its lignite extraction. Environmentalists call on the Swedish government to stop Vattenfall from selling its lignite assets to Czech energy company EPH.
