In front of Siemens headquarters Greenpeace activists call on the company to withdraw its plans for a new hydro mega dam project at the Tapajós river in the Amazon in the state of Pará (Brazil). They deliver a piece of 6,3 metres long log of a Brazil nut tree with the inscription "Save the Amazon" to two representatives of Siemens to hand it over to CEO Joe Kaeser. Some activists explain to Siemens staff and passers by the impacts the building of the 7,6 km long Sao-Luiz-do-Tapajós-dam would have on the 12,000 indigenous Munduruku, the environment and the climate. Another activist stands on a truck cutting the trunk into pieces with an electrical saw.
Statements by Sandra Hieke, Greenpeace Germany forests expert.
