Shoot: Sea Salt As Indicator of Seawater Microplastic Pollution
GP0STSKUH
A study called “Global Pattern of Microplastics (MPs) in Commercial Food-Grade Salts: Sea Salt as an Indicator of Seawater MP Pollution" co-designed by Professor Kim, Seung-Kyu at Incheon National University and Greenpeace East Asia found positive correlations between microplastics in seawater and microplastics in sea salts which people consume everyday. The study reveals a global pattern showing that sea salt containing the highest levels of microplastic is sourced on coasts polluted by microplastics. Greenpeace is urging corporations around the world to reduce and eventually phase out single-use plastics.
