Shoot: Nuclear Documentation of Nuclear Waste Transport in Basel Switzerland

GP01UIM
An intervention force of the police stormed the accommodation of the Greenpeace activists who were protesting in Basel against the arrival of the first nuclear transport in Switzerland. There is no need for these transports:
The agreement between Gösgen and the reprocessing company are fully met – now, the management of the nuclear power plants thwart the intention of the Federal Office which doesn’t allow reprocessing. The chronic sloppiness of the nuclear power plant management concerning the limits remains the same, and the authorities support the "wipe-and-away" mentality of nuclear power plants in a negligent manner. The transport, heavily guarded by a special police force, was examined for contamination in Muttenz – an organised rehearsal for the media show that the nuclear power plant Gösgen organized as part of a "communications campaign," for the media. The prescribed protective measures are not te be taken seriously; Greenpeace nuclear expert Stefan Füglister was there: "The levels of contamination were measured in the protective clothing. But he policemen standing next to the transport had to manage without special protective clothing." This action of the authorities is completely unacceptable. The Federal Office of Energy refused to let the concerned SBB-workers go to court.
