Shoot: Nuclear Actions against EPR in Normandy

GP01ILJ
Twenty Greenpeace activists block construction of the French EPR (European Pressurised Reactor) by blocking the entrance of three quarries, which supply sand and gravel for the build. The Greenpeace activists use a truck, chains, locks and barrels to block entrances to the quarries at Montegourg, Lieusaint and La Haye Du Puits and display banners reading ‘EPR: Le Grand Bluff, ('The Great Bluff' in English)." The EPR, which promises to be safer, more reliable and cheaper than previous nuclear reactors, is beset with safety problems and spiraling costs. Earlier in the year, the French Nuclear Safety Agency ordered a halt to the construction of Flamanville 3, following the discovery of chronic problems affecting the quality of the construction. None of the safety problems that halted construction in May have been addressed.
